Who we are
We are the Deskmate Team, the people who design, build, and support Deskmate Live. Our work is deciding how a desktop companion should look, when it should speak up, and when it should stay out of the way.
The same team writes this blog. We cover desktop pets and AI companions because it is the space we build in every day, and we would rather explain it honestly than leave readers to guess.
What we write about
- History: the characters that lived on our screens, from Clippy and BonziBuddy to Ukagaka and Shimeji.
- Comparisons: how today's desktop pets differ, so you can pick the one that fits.
- Guides: practical help getting the most out of an AI desktop pet.
How we research and write
Every article follows the same standards:
- Primary sources first: official product pages, documentation, original research, and first-hand reporting. Every article lists its sources.
- Facts and opinions stay separate. Our recommendations describe fit, not a universal ranking.
- Comparisons are dated, and we disclose whenever Deskmate Live is one of the products compared.
- Every image is credited, and we only use images we have the right to use, such as openly licensed or public-domain photos and official embeds.
- We use AI tools to help draft articles, and every fact is checked against the listed sources before publishing.
- When a product changes or we get something wrong, we update the article and its Updated date.
Some history articles show screenshots, character art, covers, and photos owned by others, to illustrate the products and moments we discuss. Each one is credited to its rights holder and the source where we found it.
If you hold the rights to an image and want it credited differently or removed, email contact@deskmate.online with the page link, and we will update or remove it promptly.
